What we collect
Release notification request
- Your email address.
- Whether you are a student, parent, or teacher — only if you choose to tell us.
- The course you're interested in, if you choose to tell us.
- When you asked to be notified.
Contact form
- Your name and email address.
- The topic you selected and the message you wrote.
Job applications
- Your resume and cover letter, which we ask for, and anything else you choose to send. These usually contain your name, contact details, and your work and education history.
Please send only what is needed to assess you for the role. We do not ask for, and you should not include, your Social Insurance Number, date of birth, or a photograph.
Why we collect it, and how the two are separate
When you join the interest list, you are asking us to email you once, when early access opens. It is not a newsletter and not an ongoing marketing list. We do not sell your information or use it for unrelated promotions. Our service providers process it only to operate and secure the site.
If you tell us which course you're interested in, we use it only to know what to build first and what to mention when we write to you.
The contact form is used only to answer the message you sent.
A job application is used only to consider you for the role you applied to, and to reply to you about it.
These are kept apart. Contacting us does not add you to the interest list, joining the interest list does not create an Aperio account, and applying for a job does neither.
If you apply for a job
Everything submitted through this site — the interest list and the contact form — is stored in Canada, and so are our backups. Job applications work differently: they arrive by email rather than through a form here, so they are not in our database. Email is handled by an external provider, which means a copy of your application sits in that provider's systems and may be stored and processed outside Canada.
Applications are read only by the people deciding on that role. Aperio is a small team, so in practice this is very few people. We do not share your application with anyone outside Aperio, and we do not use it to assess you for anything other than the role you applied to.
We keep an application for up to 12 months after we receive it, then delete it. If we hire you, your application becomes part of your employment record and is kept under that.
You can ask us at any time to tell you what we hold about you or to delete your application, using the contact details at the bottom of this page.
Who processes it
Aperio's website, API, database, and database backups run on servers in Toronto, Canada. Content delivery and security are handled by a provider that operates globally. Email sent to us is handled by an external email provider and may be stored and processed outside Canada.
Student, teacher, and parent data is held and secured in Canada. The platform is built on Canadian infrastructure, and that does not change when accounts open.
Our website host and security services may also process technical information such as IP addresses in their ordinary server logs.
How long we keep it
Interest list: We delete your individual request within 30 days after sending the early access notification, or 24 months after your request, whichever comes first. We may retain anonymous aggregate totals that cannot identify you.
Contact messages: We keep messages for up to 24 months and then delete them. We may keep a message longer only while a genuine legal or business matter is still being dealt with.
Job applications: We keep an application for up to 12 months after we receive it, then delete it. If we hire you, your application becomes part of your employment record and is kept under that.
Because this is a one-time notification rather than a mailing list, there is no ongoing subscription to cancel. Once we have written to you about early access, we no longer need your address.
When a record is deleted, it is gone — we do not keep a hashed or “anonymized” copy of it. What we may keep are aggregate totals that cannot identify anyone, such as how many people joined the list, or how many were interested in a particular course.

Your choices
You can ask us to delete your information, take your address off the list before we write to you, or tell you what we hold about you. Use the contact form and choose Privacy or data request:
Requests are handled by a person, not an automated system, so please allow a little time for a reply.
